dfGallery

It's the closest to SlideShowPro while still remaining free.. and it does some amazing things that I don't think SSP even does, like grab your albums directly from Flickr, Yahoo, or Picasa if you configure it as such.

My biggest pet peeve is the icons, which remind of Windows 95 for some reason... (ironic for a "Web 2.0" site, also :))

So, as stated, is there anything better that I'm missing? Thank ye.

I hate flash. Back when I still had dialup, it was the bane of my existance. I still don't like even on my uni connection.

Well, considering the 4MB (and counting) of images I'm going to be putting in this gallery, the extra 44kb to use Flash isn't going to be the bane of anyone's existence. :)

And that Flash gallery is going to be much better than loading page after page of images ala Flickr. My site is still on a shared server, and if I can keep the queries down by keeping an entire gallery on ONE page with Flash, then I'm sure gonna do it. :)

But really though, nobody knows a better Flash gallery?? *sigh*

Edit: What I just realized after reading this post is that if I just host them on Flickr, and use this dfGallery to grab them from Flickr and put them into Flash, I could save a lot of bandwidth. :) I don't want these photos to be downloadable though, and dfGallery has a nice option to disable Print Screen, or any other capturing programs for that matter.

So, *sigh*, I think I'm just going to stick with this then.

(just being dramatic, suggestions are still welcome)

Thanks.

I like Simple Viewer, but I need something that can contain multiple albums.

That "Flash XML Gallery" looks nice, it's a little easier to change categories.

But can anyone answer this.... Why on Earth does the FREE dfGallery look/operate EXACTLY like the $30 SlideShowPro??? Is there some open-source flash product that these are based off of? If so, I want it, so that I can change the SWF file to my liking. I can't get past the generic look of dfGallery, with its Windows 95/XP looking icons.

For anyone too lazy to do a side-by-side comparison:

dfGallery vs. SlideShowPro

See what I mean?
