Nah. Personal Learning Edition. :D

Yeah sure, and I suppose all those MP3s you downloaded off Kazaa are personal learning editions too.

Seriously. I tried getting Maya Complete off Kazaa but no go. PLE has all the features that I could possibly use.

STFU, troll. Not everybody has the same view of copyright legislation (that it is something to be ignored) that you and many of the people on here have. I'm not going to put my personal beliefs into this argument, since that doesn't matter, and since I don't know if the RIAA is reading this or not. What matters is that you are accusing idNut of pirating Maya without any evidence whatsoever. Ever heard of innocent until proven guilty?

I also pay for EVERY game I play. I hate downloaded games and I believe people who write complex games and software should be paid. Artist's are another story. I own every Nine Inch Nails (17 CDs :Q) , Garbage, and Tool CD I listen to as well as other artists that I just wanted to know that I purchased and gave money to. (Joy Division, Pink Floyd, Deftones, etc.) I use Kazaa for testing music and 8/10 I buy the CD.

i'm a computer animation major and the majority of work done in class is with Maya. It's an excellent, complete package, and it definately has a steep learning curve. There are so many aspects of the program that require in-depth learning. First you must learn how to model, then set up shaders, rendering, mel scripts, aniamtion etc etc. This program has everything, but it is definately for the hardcore 3d graphics enthusiast.

But once you get the hang of it, and once you start making some amazing artwork, like some of these people over at cgtalk.com, you'll be glad you did. If you're trying to get into the 3d business, then Maya is a good place to start because it is used a lot in the industry. But the main thing is to learn different 3d theories like how to animate and what not, because it's always changing and a new program could be out before you know it.

So do you think it's a good field to pursue? I tried programming and was shot down but Maya seems more ally since it's art related. Would I have a better chance getting hired in a field like that rather than programming for a game company?

i don't know man, i can't actually tell you about the industry because i'm still a student. But the more you know the better your chances. It is a very specialized feild though. They look for lighting specialist, modeling specialists, special effects etc. If you think you'd make a good 3d programmer than you should pursue that. there are many opportunities to specialize in.

Don't be so quick to judge.

I happen to know that the $7,000 version of Maya called Maya Unlimited 4.5 is on Kazaa. It comes with the crack. Just download it and crack it. Since it is so easy to get the $7,000 version why would I believe he has the Personal Learning Edition? I don't believe it for a second.

because your the moron that didn't want to lend your dad your car. sheesh, after that thread i don't think anyone will take anything you post seriously. oh poor baby, had to drive the minivan infront of high school kids. and they snickered. OMG what's he going to do, they snickered at him.

oh btw, not everyone is like you.

Nothing. In fact, if it weren't for the gas mileage (I hear it's not the greatest), I would consider getting one for my first vehicle (as I'm 16 and don't have one yet). It would make it quite easy to carry a full tower computer plus 19 inch monitor et. al. to LAN parties (then all I would need to do would be to find friends, ones that would be interested in having LAN parties). :p

I have connections at lucasarts and apparently maya is the top software right now...you need to know it like the back of your hand to get a job and no, you don't need to know script/mel writing but it definately helps to know how.
