anyone know if you can hook up a subwoofer to a regular deck in a car?

i have an eclipse with a pretty good sounding 4 cd changer. Could I buy one of those amplified bass tubes and hook it up to the stock 4 cd changer deck? or is this not possible and i'd need a new deck?

Most of these "tubes" have small amps built into them.

yes just wire it into the rear speakers, if the sub has its own amp its fine, my friend does this, his sub has a built in crossover aso so it works fine

he has a 12 in alpine sub and a 350w rockford amp

yes, I see them on ebay for around 200, and since I already have 4 CD changer and the speakers sound good to me the only thing that would be worth it to me would be to somehow add a little extra bass.

well if I was going to go and get an all-out system I wouldn't mind spending 500-800 but I had a little fender bender the other day that cost me 550 so there goes the money I was saving for system... so bass tube will have to do lol...wasn't sure if I wanted to get a whole system anyway

If you get one of the amplified tubes it will need to have a line-level input or you'll need a line-level to low level converter, either way you'll have to splice into a speaker wire to get signal to it. I've been told that Dave Navone's are great ones to use. Here's the site for them. http://www.autosound2000.com/

thanks... is this hard to do myself? the bazooka tubes that I have been looking at on EBay say they have Speaker and Line Level Inputs...so this is a good thing?
