Anyone know how to setup LAN?

can anyone tell me how to get a LAN setup? What equipment do i need?

If you're using windows (and I'm guessing you are).. you should be fine with a hub, and network cards in each machine. Connect all machines to hub, enable file and print sharing (win98), set up your shares. It should be as easy as that. Now if you want to have internet access across all these computers, then it gets a bit more complicated. Give us more details, what OS, hardware etc do you have? Secondly, there is a networking forum for this sort of thing here at AT, you might want to try there.

You need 2 network cards and either a crossover cable or a hub. You can get the hub and network cards at Bust Buy pretty cheap. you will also need a cat5 patch cable to go from the hub to both puters. After you acquire parts post again and we will walk you through the setup. People at Bust Buy will know what all you need.

I have windows ME, and with the setup you told me, is it possible to play LAN games? like counter-strike?

To play Counter strike on Lan you need to add Protocol Nwlink IPX/SPX Compatible transport.

Voodoo, my network at University is ATM tcp/ip without any IPX, and I run CS just fine. Are you sure about that?

You need to also assign your computer IP addresses and a gateway or they won't see eachother.

I never found one good integrated write up about this subject on the Net it seems that due to the complexity, and length needed, it is not easy to create such a post.
