Little clippers....like wire cutters but with a finer tip? Or something like that, and just slide it between the shirt and the sensor and SNIP~

Worked for my friend on a pair of pants he bought about 4 or 5 years back - They put like 3 sensors on them and then don't take all of them off~

If there *is* ink inside, or risk of ink inside, why not carefully drill a small hole in the outer part while holding it upside down - drain out the ink first.
I don't think you can just "hacksaw through the middle" - I think it pushes the shirt into the top part a little bit.
A little work with a drill, sharp utility knife, and other small tools (dremel if you have one) and you should be able to get it apart... if not, you're destined to have to hire plumbers and other workmen for every little task the rest of your life because you can't handle simple do it yourself chores like plunging a clogged toilet.

haha, i like this solution

If it's magnetic, as like as you pin one side down to something, you can use a relatively strong magnet (and by relatively, it has to be pretty darn strong) and place that under the object pinning down the security device. Then you should be able to remove it. Judging from the picture it seems you've tried to pry it with a screwdriver, but, just seperate the two pieces

i hope by offering some help, i'm not an accessory to theft.

I hear you can freeze the suckers so you don't have to worry about the ink if you decide it's hammer time. Personally, I'd just take a hacksaw to it and saw through the pin holding the parts together.

not necissarily, my wife bought a shirt last month while in waco with her mom. it was on clearance, and they forgot to to take the tag off of it too. (luckily it was only $5) so we weren't out much.

i had the same thign happen to me... it made me wonder how good the store's security is if the alarm didn't go off when i left the store... i would say just go back into the store and just go straight to the customer service desks.. that's what i did..... if they aggrivate you more and accuse you of stealing.. sue the place for false accusations...
