Anyone know how to FVCKING DISABLE CATCHUP in NFSMW Career Mode?

So I'm on blacklist 7 or something. I've been playing NFS for years, and really, really have a handle on the cars. Just now I was doing a sprint and 70% into the race my opponent is 3,000 feet behind me. I race PERFECTLY up until 90%, and suddenly my opponent just ups and catches up to me, winning the race at the last second.

This catch up SH!T is really fvcking pissing me off. I remember the old NFS games. If you were good enough you could even LAP an AI car. Now with this catch up sh!t the only thing that an experienced player like me gets is frustrating loss after frustrating loss, all within the last 10% of the track because the AI car suddenly has the ability to jump over fences, take hairpins at 200mph, and is no longer bound by the same physics as the player.

I know in custom race you can disable catch-up, but can you do this in career? Any hack out there?

What the FVCK. I just beat blacklist 6 by puttering at 100mph in 6th for 80% of the track, and then gunned it for the remaining 20% and won by a long shot. Fvcking piece of sh!t game.

Some of the worst AI ever. Gotta love taking all the shortcuts and getting near the end only to see the AI cars go warp 9 and catch up to you.

So the game is challenging you and you are complaining:confused: I admit it happens once in awhile that I lose also at the last second, but if I won every race the first shot at it, I would have finished the game 2 days after I bought it. That would make me more angry to have wasted $50 bucks for a couple days of play.

Keep in front of the AI and bounce that car off the road:p

It sucks that companies take the easy way out. Instead of working on a good AI they let the computer controlled cars cheat.

I've seen the same thing in burnout revenge.
You'll be in first place the whole race and then at the end a car comes by and wrecks you.

fiat punto overtaking Merc SLR @ 220MPH FTW!!!!!

opponents being able to drive on the sidewalk during a drag race and you being constrained to the tarmac only pissed me right off. i hard a very very hard time trying to avoid a TV van crossing a 2 lane road (it basically covered the entire road) and still winning. computers car simply drives on the sidewalk to avoid it where as ive got the choice of left lane or right lane, both of which are blocked.

I remember that race, that a pain in the rear end. At one point i made it past the TV van but i had to slow down to much, so the other car pass me and won the race :(. the other car just drove by on the sidewalk. To bad EA decided to keep this crappy racing mode. They could've improve on it alot.

Dont blame the game, blame the driver... You can drive off the sidewalk too and do all the same moves if you would just try the racebraker (bullet time).

You guys are complaining about the AI catching up to you yet you dont seem to mind when your behind and you are able to catch up which is the intent of the feature.

WTF!!? People actually DEFEND this sh!tty AI? This is probably the reason we have this sh!tty AI, because there are some people who feel that AI cheating is an acceptable way to program a game. Catch-up is cheating. That's all there is to it.

I DO mind that when I'm far behind I'm still able to catch up and win. It cheapens the game. It cheapens the victory. And it doesn't make the "driver" any more skilled because of it. Basically catch up allows the really sh!tty drivers (like those people defending catchup AI) to win, and the truly good ones (those who can go an entire race not hitting a single object or touching the brake) to either barely make it or to flat out lose because the opponent cars are no longer bound by the same physics as the driver is.

As for the drag race and TV van, you have to nitro it in the curve right before you see the TV van and move over to the left lane. This allows you to cut right in front of the van, no problem. Just make sure you immediately move to the right lane after you pass the car on the right because there's a car in the left lane on a blind hill (I use bumper view). No slowing down needed. Badly scripted, I agree, but it's doable without using n00b tricks like "speedbreaker."

I remember the old NFS's... racers actually had to be good to beat a game like that. If you weren't on the ball, if you damaged your car too much, if you hit something and all the cars passed you, you were fvcked, and rightly so. Restart the race, cuz there is no physical way to catch up anymore. I respected this. You were on a level playing field with the other cars, and the only thing differentiating you from the rest is your skill.

We actually had to dodge spike strips WITHOUT speedbreaker, and during a hot pursuit the cops would actually go after your opponents too, not just single you out each and every time like in Most Wanted. None of this recharging nitro thing either. If you got yourself into a jam, there was no nitro to save your ass.

The only realistic and "good" NFS that ever came out was NFS: PU. All the others were jokes, especially those that think it took skill to drive any of them. NFS: PU was the best realistic NFS series ever... So, now what do I find the second NFS? Most Wanted, because the graphics are awesome and well, it does drive arcadish, but when has it NEVER been that way?

People forget how arcadish the game has always been... The only great title is NFS: PU as far as realistic, for fun, I give MW second place, because it looks great, is a lot of fun and has quite a bit of replay value. Never had some much multiplayer fun in my life within the last year as I did with NFS: MW.

I would have a problem with it if this were a SIM .. but it's not it's an arcade, it's not realistic, it's not meant to be. I havent' really noticed the catch up AI in very many situations... but I have seen it a few times where I lost a race at the last second when I thought I had it won. It's not that extreme though. I haven't really seen "catch up" ever work in my favor though.. lol.. it seems like once I fall very far behind that's it, I may as well start the race over :)

It's a fun game.. if you want realism it's not for you..

One thing I do think they should've done is make you pay for car repairs whenever you beat the car up.. heh. I would make me at least try not to crash so damn much ;-)
