Anyone know how much it would be for this install?

Hey, I drive a 99 galant and I need to get 1 Infinity Perfect 12 and a Rockford 400s amp installed... Anyone off the top of their heads know how much it would be? I will be installing this to the stock CD player for money reasons right now... But I will eventually get an aftermarket deck... So don't say I should just buy a new deck before I install... I also have MOST of the wiring needed I think... The wire that goes from the battery all the way back to the amp I think isn't long enough so I will have to have a little more of that or a new wire all together... Everything else I think I have... So what do you think this will cost?

Umm, install it yourself :p That's what I'm doing, and I've never installed an AMP before :)

Anyway, I'd say aboout 50 bucks ;)

Install it yourself. It's not that difficult.

Make sure your power wire and ground wire are the same guage.

Amp install is either $40 or $50 at Best Buy. Do the sub yourself if you are going to pay for installation. Amp installation is not that hard either. Just requires some time and running cables from the deck and battery to the trunk.

Well is there an online guide or something that can help me? I'm sure my dad could do it if there was some basic steps or something... I just really wouldn't know how/where to run all the wiring and stuff through the car.

Power wire runs down one side of the car from the battery. Remote wire and rcas run down the other side of the car from the deck. Ground wire is usually grounded somewhere in the trunk.

When i tried to get a head unit and four speakers installed at best buy they wanted $280, which was ridiculous. Got a friend of mine to do it for $10. Screw Best Buy.

Yeah, I like my car so far... I just got it not to long ago. What model and year is yours? I have the 99 GTZ... It's pretty nice. But anyways, How do I remove like the carpet or whatever I remove to run the wires down the side?

you're around 60 at a stereo place (don't go to best buy/circuit city/fry's/alned's), not including wiring/fuses/box/all that good stuff, but your'e running it to the stock HU which AFAIK requires more effort (no subout) so probably more than that

Mine's a 01 ES Galant. I gots the leather and sunroof, so it's pretty sweet. I'll have to contact a friend, who also owns a galant and also self-installed a system in his car, for information on how to remove that stuff.

Since you're using the stock HU I doubt you'll be running RCAs. Chances are you'll use speaker level inputs and tap off the rear speaker wires.

Save your money and wait for your DECK. thats the best way to avoid cutting any of your factory wires.

How hard it is to install just a headunit? I want to get just a HU for now, and maybe upgrade from stock speakers later, but I really just want it for the CD player right now. I have a 98' Civic with just AM/FM radio... would I end up taking out the stock radio and putting the HU in its place or would I keep it there and put the HU where the stock CD player goes (if I had one), which is close to the bottom of the dash, away from all the other controls. I'm pretty sure that I would just take out the stock radio, but one corner of it is kinda curved and I'm not sure how well the rectangle HU would fit. I'm sure theres someone here with a Civic that has a non stock radio that could help me out :D

The thing that sucks most about installing an amp is the professional clean look if you want it - sure the actual connections are easy - it's just time consuming taking apart your interior to run the wires under the carpet/out of sight. It's also a pain if you don't already have some pre-drilled holes in your firewall. If you don't care about that type of stuff it'll be simple.

I've installed 3 amps and definately the ahrdest part is the firewall...the good thing though is that a good percentage of the time there is a hole for all the stearing column wires and what not and that can be utilized for the power cable. Along the sides of your car there should be paneling that can be screwed up/ryed up that u can hide wires under. Just have to remeber to run your RCA's and your amp power somewhat seperate to reduce distorition, but other than that just shove everything under the carpet/paneling and it'll look clean and shouldnt be too ahrd to get into the trunk.

Also, since my stock cd player doesn't have any inputs I was told I need a line convertor. I guess this gets spliced into my rear speaker wire and I hook them up to that? Anyone ever installed one of these?

Installing a headunit is so incredibly easy. If you can follow directions, then you can do it. My sister installed her own Sony deck that she got from Crutchfield. If she can do it, you should be able to (my sister is pretty smart though). :D

Ironic that my RCA's run right next to my power cables and I don't get any interference. Could be because I'm just running a pair of subs and not my mains.
