Anyone know how much it will cost to repair a fist-size hole in drywall?

Yeah....Well I got a little mad and punched a hole through our wall....and yeah my parents are pretty pissed off....but I was just wandering about how much it will cost to get repaired or whatever. Can anyone help me out here?

That sucks man, I did the same thing in my apartment last year after getting into a fight with my roomates.

cut hole out, place wire mesh on wall. spackle. then repaint entire room to match🙂

its a little work, mostly the painting.

next time you'll punch yourself instead of the wall😛

there are plenty of do it yourself books.

Not even $20. Just go to the hardware store and buy the necessary supplies.

Unless you have to buy tools.

Shouldn't take many tools, heck, wouldn't even need a putty knife if you used a kitchen spatula.

Get a piece of drywall about 3 inches bigger than the hole on all sides.

Cut or break the drywall off the paper on the outsides so that you are left with a piece of drywall that will fit in the hole with paper extending out on all the sides.

Butter good with drywall compund around the sides of the patch you made and push into the hole. Push out any wrinkes in the paper and let dry.

Go over the patch with compond a couple of times letting it first dry then rubing it with damp sponge to smooth it out.

Finish with a little sanding and paint it with some primer but used a really nappy roller because the patch will usually be a lot flatter than the surrounding wall.

Exactly the way I was taught. 😉

I was tought to cut the hole bigger enough to fit a board through. Then use a board (slightly) bigger than 2 edges of the hole (and narrower than the other two adges) and slide it behind the wall. Screw in the board (through the drywall and into the board behind the drywall) on both ends. Then cut a new piece of drywall to fill the hole and screw that into the board that is already secured.

Then tape the exposed areas, apply a wide amount of spackle (thin coat), let dry, sand and paint.

I've never actually had to do this, but, that's what I was taught. They probably have easier methods, but, if you think you might be leaning against the wall, the board will keep the hole from re-opening later. If you are moving out of an apt, that's probably not a concern to most people.

They make total patch kits, so you won't need to buy all the tools. It comes in a little box, and it has everyhting you need.
