Anyone know how much acryllic material runs?

I feel like making a new case and since its my first time and everyone says its easier to work with than metal, which makes sense to me, I'm gonna go for it. Does anyone know how much it costs? If so, how much for a case and where can I get some?

Are you wanting to buy a pre-assembled acrylic case? Or are you wanting to buy a sheet of acrylic, and build your own case? I work at a sign shop, and we buy acrylic in 4'x8' sheets, more than enough to build your own case if you wanted to go that route. If so, I can get you some pricing on it on Monday, and let you know where we get it. It should be cheaper than buying a pre-assembled acrylic case, even with shipping.

Lowes is pretty damn cheap, if you don't have one in your area I suppose a home depot or another major home building store wouldn't charge you much more. I got two sidepanels worth of Lucite (a tougher acrylic clone I believe) for 10 bucks I think. Larger sheets are available as well. NOTE: HAVE THEM CUT IT FOR YOU (at least the the side panels), that stuff stinks (literally) and cutting it yourself will probably be harder. I believe they will cut it for you for free and most of those guys are really precise. Good luck, I'm tempted to follow in your footsteps, let me know how much your total bill comes out to and the time you spend on it. I might try this myself as I have been looking for another project 🙂

edit: there are some really great guides for making these online

Great suggestion, as a local store would be even cheaper for material. As for having them cut it for you, it's not really necessary if you know what you're doing. First of all, cutting the material doesn't necessarily stink IMO. Kinda smells like eggnog a bit to me 😀. And when I cut acrylic, I use a plain panel saw. If you're able to make straight cuts and have the hardware, I say go this route, as it'll be cheaper. Just make sure you cut very slowly, as not to crack the edges of the acrylic. If you want the cleanest cut possible, though, it may be wise to have someone else cut it.
