Anyone know how I would go about getting large amounts of plastic?

Yes, you heard right. I need large amounts(IE, by the gallon...I'll need probably about 20 gallons to start, and then about 200 gallons in the end) of two-part(hopefully) plastic. It needs to be fairly good quality...color isn't a big issue, but black is best...white would be my next choice.

I know it's kind of a strange question, but I have no idea where to get it. I would think there must be plastic distributers all around the US, especially in the Chicago area(my location). Anyone know how I would go about getting my hands on this kind of stuff? I remember a while back some guy had made a Stormtrooper costume and used 10 gallon buckets of white plastic he got from somewhere, but the site is down and all I can turn up is plastic surgery.

"Plastic" is kinda vague. There are litterally thousands of different plastics on the market. Could you be a tad more specific?

Umm, dude, you need a mold. Also, most plastics have to be heated to become liquid.

No fscking sh!t I need a mold. I've got that covered.

As for the heating...not necessarily, AFAIK. You have one part of this stuff that is liquid, and another part that is the catalyst.

I'm planning on molding a large...erm...statue. It will be man-sized, and will have joints. So the plastic will need to be fairly sturdy. I will be making a series of 10 of these statues, molded and sculpted myself. The plastic can be SLIGHTLY pliable, which will hopefully ward off breakage, but if rock hardness is more sturdy, then perfect.

And before you ask, no, I'm not making a RealDoll...pervs. :p
