anyone know how I can get XP to boot to dos without a floppy? UPDATE: the deed is done

In order to boot from the USB Floppy disk drive it apparently must be connected before you turn the unit on. If you connect it while the unit is booting it may not boot to it.

what bios version, too?

if it goes to command prompt, then it works... you have to type in the exe file name and the file name of the new bios update (something to that effect)

I got it to boot to dos finally!!!

This is confusing me. I type in the command aminfchb0120.rom and it says bad command....grrrrr

shouldn't the command be something like
awdflash.exe aminfchb0120.rom
(or some other flashing EXE) since the BIOS update is not self-installing?

Also, the flash program might have an option to back up the current BIOS to diskette, you might run it with that option first, then apply the BIOS update.

yup - make sure you go to your manufacturer or the bios maker's site and read over the directions just so they are clear before upgrading the bios

succesfully booted to dos from usb floppy
ran bios update (aminf335 chb0120 for the record)
updated bios!
now toying with setting...cpu is running at 2.07 right now...going to play more after COPS is over
