Anyone know anything about zline? We purchased a range hood back in April with a two week deliver date. Then we were told zline couldn't fulfill the order and it would be a TWO MONTH shipping date. Recently it's been changed to a FOUR MONTH shipping date and I have no reason to believe that will be accurate. In the meantime, my kitchen sits ripped apart and waiting for the range hood so that we can install the new tile backsplash, which now sits in my garage waiting. Anyone know anything about zline?

Thanks.

I'm guessing OP is trying to get a less common style. Anyway, not surprising for a "smaller" company.

Why in the world would you tolerate that behavior?
With that sort of service, they won't be around for support later.

Move on to a different supplier.

Must not have been clear. It's not available anywhere. I've checked around all over the internet. I don't think z-line is a small company.

Z Line 8697C-36 36" Designer Series Copper Wall Range Hood

Has to be copper, 36" wide to cover the range, 27.5" deep to cover the range. I can't find anything similar anywhere and everywhere I contact, even if they state the rangehood is available, then gets back to me and says it is not.

Then call z-line and ask what else is available. It looks like several of their models come in multiple dimensions.

Have talked with them. They don't have any other models that are copper with the same dimensions and have stated that the range hood should at least be the 27.5 to cover the range. That's why I'm trying to figure out what the deal is with a product not being available for at least four months. Also looking for other manufacturers, but not finding much yet unless I spend at least two to three times as much as the original $1400 I already spent. Trying to find a solution. :)

I'm afraid it's made in China and you really can't expect what will happen down the road.

Finding another solution probably is a better option.

I'd just get a shallower model. It will be less annoying, less in the way.

Just curious why you need 27.5" of depth.

Personally I'd go American with a company like Vent-a-Hood.

Was able to talk to someone at zline. Issue is they have no chimneys that go up from the fan unit. They said they don't anticipate having any anytime soon and that I should find something else to order. They also said that with a 28" range, a 24" range hood would be okay, but that I should really have something larger than that.

The vent a hood website sucks to navigate. And I don't see any prices. The last company another forum poster suggested got back to me with an estimate of $4700 for the equivalent of the $1400 zline.

Vent a hood says 24" is too small and to look at their 27" options. Trying, but their website sucks. :)

Why do you have to wait for the range hood to install a tile backsplash?

It reminds me of cooking itself... don't start making something until you're sure you already have all the ingredients. ;)

;)

It's wall mount. It will look more seamlessly if you install tile backsplash first.

are you looking at the spec sheet of the range? if your countertops are 24 inch you need a 24 deep hood. can you post a pic of this area? often i see the depth in the specs including the handles and stuff. you just need it to cover the top.

I think the guy doing the work would be happy to do all the tile work first. He's going to have to come back anyway since you can't do tile/grout/etc. in just a day.

Yeah you pretty much have to order direct to get certain designs, but you also have to expect crazy lead-times like this. I found that these kind of delays actually aren't that uncommon in this realm, and honestly it could be as simple as material delays (China trade war nonsense) or simply manufacture not coming up to standards in a certain lot, for whatever reason.

Last year, I ended up going with a Proline model, similar to this one

https://www.prolinerangehoods.com/3...MIzJHW4anB4gIVzQOGCh0JgwymEAQYBSABEgJ9kfD_BwE

I recall various comments where people had long delays with certain orders and some issues on delivery where it ended up taking months to get a replacement after the initial delivery took only 3 or 4 days.

Probably more of a hassle and likely more expensive, but have you considered shopping around for a local metal shop that is willing to bang one out for you? Range hoods aren't really that complex to make--a relatively simple shell, doesn't need to be all that thick, and you just toss a fan of your own choosing in there with some simple electronics. Going with copper, though...yeah I can't imagine that this idea would be much less than 2x whatever zline is charging.

...at the same time, I'm 100% certain that your delay is because of the copper.

full size would certainly be more efficient/require less CFM than the shallower option, but 24" could be perfectly fine.

What is your total possible BTU output from the range and the CFM rating that you have paired with your current order? Bear in mind that a lot of the work that the hood is doing is in the final ~foot or less of space just under the vents. Your fumes are naturally drafting up in that direction anyway and are very light, so it doesn't take much energy to pull anything just outside of the hood back into the vents. What the CFM really does for you is make sure all of that is effectively blown out of the house, through whatever length of vent tubing you require. And remember that this CFM is really rated for your maximum potential output--so all burners running full blast with all pots doing their work. ....or one extremely hot ~700f large wok stir fry, I have found. :D
