Anyone know anything about wiring phones?

We have 3 phones in my office, and each has 2 jacks. One jack is for Line 1 and 2, the other is for Line 3 (fax).

I bought another phone and a splitter, and I thought by just adding a splitter to the Line 1/2 Jack that I could run that line to the new phone. When I do this, I only get 1 Line on the new phone. Any advice?

You need a two line splitter.
