anyone know anything about Tablets?

I'm posting this here because the help in the general hardware forums moves around about one thread per day and I rarely see a question awnsered quickly there. I bought a Tablet at a computer show (Wintime profesional PAL) myurl and I proceeded to put all the cables in the right place and I plugged the tablet into the serial port like it's supposed to be and nothing... there is a little light that should pop on in the upper right hand corner that hasn't turned on and there is no spot on the tablet for an alternate power source... I've installed the drivers and nothing is happeneing, it seems the thing is DOA.... wtf??? help.

I don't buy at shows.. because the ones here are put on by the local mom and pop shops.. and all those royally break the law here.
