If you're looking for a comparable small sedan consider the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Ford Focus or Mazda Protege. Sure they aren't as cheap as the Kia but they're a lot more reliable and you might have a chance surviving a 5 MPH bumper accident!
They must have made some drastic improvements in quality, else they would not be offering the good warrenty. And Hyundi quality is pretty darn good now, though it used to be bad.
Hyundai makes a really reliable cheap car. I had one for my first car and I still love that car. I sold it recently because I had no need for it since I have a new car. Although, it would have last for a long time. The resale value plumets, so if you are going to buy one make sure you plan on keeping it for the life of the vehicle or until its paid off, if not, you will lose some serious money because the resale will probably never match what you owe. Great car.
