anyone know anything about fixing LCD's?

I want to try to fix this LCD that I have. The only issue it really has is that it displays "input not supported" when connected. I am half way tempted to tear the thing apart, but I wondered if anyone had any intelligent input on this.

See how difficult it is to replace the VGA/DVI cable. Odds are there's a short in it that is preventing the display from seeing a signal. Maybe even something as simple as a bent pin?

Outside of that, I dunno.

UPS is already sending me a check to cover the cost of a new one. But I am going to try to fix this bad boy.

Try turning off the computer and turning it back on.

is it an envision lcd by chance?

yes.

Tried powering off and on. Tried updating the drivers. The problem is that once I connect the monitor my screen goes blank after <1 second.

You have any ideas?

Lowest possible resolution with lowest possible refresh? 1024x768 at 60hz? 640 x 480 @ 60HZ? try moving the hz up one setting each time in each resolution? Try running in safe mode? 16 bit color?

I am thinking it is a software issue, I am going to call them tomorrow and raise hell.

because the people that I sent it to for RMA said it was damaged in transit. They said the case, screen and base were all damaged. None were.

I am still not 100% sure that UPS will send me the check.

replace the video cable.


Thats all I can think off. My mouse died, so I opened it up, cut a few inches off the cable, respliced, and now it is fine.

If its not the cable you are SOL cause you just voided the warrantee (i spel reel nise) on that mug.
