Anyone know anything about diversion?

Is going through diversion the same thing as going to court and winning? I'm looking to get a low class misdemeanor off my record and I'm thinking even though I was wrongfully cited, it would just be easier to go through the community service.

Doesn't it usually involve you staying out of trouble for at least 6 months and some form of punishment?

the punishment is community service. Me staying out of trouble for 6 months or any amount of time isnt an issue. This is my first run in with the law. In 5 years of driving I havent even had a warning, much less a speeding ticket.

A diversion is a guilty plea, which is held in abeyance for a certain amount of time. If you don't get in any more trouble, the prosecutor will not pursue the initial charge. If you get into more trouble while on probation, he will charge you with the first crime.

So, it's like the prosecutor waits to see if you are a good boy before running your @ss through court.

I'd do the community service, especially if you are young and an insurance risk.

I signed a diversion agreement when I was arrested in college. It required that I take a class and be on probabtion for 12 months. I had six months to complete the class. No community service was assigned to me.

For me no class, just 12 hrs community service.

For me no class, just 12 hrs community service.

I'd take it. You can have 12 hours of community service done in a weekend.
