Anyone know anything about Blackwater Security? I kinda wanna do a career change

I think working for Blackwater would kick much ass. But I know jack all about it. Can any one civilian go and apply and try to make it through training? What does training cost? What are you paid afterwards? What are the chances of success? Anyone know anything about them?

I think they some of the security in Iraq.

Of course, one of theirs just got ambushed and a couple of civilians died.

Yeah, I know they dont do your normal patrol Wal-Mart parking lot security. I think they do alot of high risk hot spots....

Were you in the Delta Force or are you former CIA Op/Paramilitary?

If you answer no, there is no chance of working for any of these "security" companies. The pay is sky high, so are the pensions.

If they do a lot of high profile and high asset protection, I doubt that any loose cannon off the street could apply. They probably get a lot of ex-military and law enforcement types. You know, folks who kinda know what the hell they're doing to begin with.

Kind of what I was getting at. I didn't mean to imply that the average file clerk or aircraft mechanic in the military could apply for these positions. I MEANT special ops and highly skilled individuals. Same with the law enforcement, didn't mean that a regular beat cop or patrolman could go, but maybe an HRT member or SWAT member could go. But thanks for making it cleared for everyone else.

Want to work for blackwater? Here's what you have to do...

Enlist in the Navy a request a BUD/S screener
Get a billet to BUD/S
Pass BUD/S
Finish SQT and receive SEAL trident
Complete training and report for first tour w/ SEAL team
Redeploy, second tour
Request discharge, get discharged
Apply for blackwater position

You're looking at probably 8 years before you can join Blackwater...gl w/ BUD/S

These guys were providing security for a food shipment into the city where they were attacked, burned, descecrated, and hung on a bridge. I wouldn't call them 'mercenary' at all.

I'd call the people who did that to them all sorts of mean and nasty things that will never be repeated.

The original poster is refering to the eight Blackwater Security "commandos" that fended off a Shiite militia attack on the one of the coalition headquarters. With no aid from the military, Blackwater had to fly in their own resupply helicopters when the 8 were low on ammo. They also airlifted a wounded marine out.

The guys really are mercenaries though. The guys that died might have been protecting a food shipment, but that not what they typically do.
