Symantec now owns both products. I've always liked Drive Image better, pretty soon Ghost and Drive Image be one product

we just switched from imagecenter to ghost, but since symantec bought powerquest , our license allows us to use both

we use the 3com PXE server stuff from the deploycenter library and ghost now, it is a good setup

DriveImage and Ghost are the only ones I'm familiar with, I used Ghost for awhile and found it did the job well.

Personally prefer Drive Image also.
Shame Norton got them.

I never really disliked Ghost, it worked just fine, i just preferred drive images ease of use , saving me time.
(thats a personal opinion, not trying to start a ghost/drive image flamewar)

I'm stll using Drive Image 2002, cuz i hated having to keep digging out my disc for drive image 7.0

Anywhooooo..... Anyone know where you can still find all the error codes/solutions for drive image 2002?
You'd think a google search would turn up ONE site with them listed, yet i can't find any.

I KNEW i should have copied and pasted them into a text file, the last tile i was viewing them!
But NOOOO... I figured i'd do it later, now the site is gone.

That sucks!

for my personal drive imaging needs I just use dd. Works pretty well. Not exactly user friendly.

But it's free.

Otherwise Ghost never let me down.

I swear by this program.

I do too now... was looking for a imaging software package for osme work PCs. tried them ALL... ALL I swear.

True Image was simply the smoothest, quickest and easiest to backup and restore with. PRICELESS utility.

Do any of these alternatives work with a DOS boot disk, using pure DOS mode? (like Ghost does?)

Thanks.

Acronis True image has the option to make bootable recovery media. I made a boot CD, but have never had to use it. I booted up with it to make sure it works. It boots to a gui similar to what you see when you run true image from windows. It's not Dos though, it's based on linux or unix. It can make boot floppies too but I have never made a set so I don't know if they are dos based or not.

Ok, what works with XP?
Drive Image doesn't out of the box without a security fix that isn't working.

Dido on the thumbs down!

Too bad the learning curve is so high. As far as forensics are concerned, DD wins hands down.
