anyone know about ram support with an intel i810 chipset mobo(2000?)

I've got a bunch of systems here... HP Pavilion 6746C's that we're trying to install 512 PC133 chips into and we're getting nothing but beeps. I'm wondering if mabye the boards dont support taht much. Anyone know?

I believe the 810/815 chipsets have a 512MB RAM limit, although I thought if you had >512MB, the board would still run, the extra RAM simply woudln't show up.

I would suggest...

read about it. its a stinking google search. I could tell you everything about it... but then... you could just do the resarch yourself....

PwN3d by teh no0b. 😀

BTW, you're getting hosed by the i810's inability to handle high-density SDRAM. Take it back to the supplier and tell them you need low density RAM.

Hmmm... it was a newegg buy... thanks for your usual wisdom M4H... will have to look again and figure something out... we got like 20 sticks. I make a habit of trying to help at least three or four... sometimes a dozen people whenever I come on with a question. This is sh!tting all over a major project im in the middle of at work and my frustration was compounded with the stupid questions "IC7 LAN?!?!?" "Why do we have to buy new stuff for PCI EXPRESS???"

mabye they open email attachments too?

either way I apologized even before I saw that I was crapped upon in here after reflecting on it while driving home from work....
freaking sdram bullsh!t... 2xDDR owns.

i810 cannot handle more than 128 MBytes per DIMM side, 256 MBytes on a double-sided 16-chip DIMM. And four DIMM sides total maximum, 512 MB total.
