Anyone know about Falken tires?

My Michelins are shot, and need replacing. Saw these and they look interesting. Seem to be thought better of then my old Michelin MXV4 pluses, which kind of sucked on snow.

Any thoughts or suggestions for a decent all weather performance tire?

Falken became really popular with the autocross crowd when they released their Azenis series of tires. Its pretty much a street-legal slick. Awesome in the dry, sucks in everything else. It also doesn't wear well (well its practically an R-compound..so that makes sense).

I dunno about their normal all season tires though.

Btw, Michelin MXV4 (and the Plus version) are crap. I've had two sets of those...total utter crap.

You don't need Michelin's to cruise the boardwalk, d00d. Just buy the cheapest fatties you can find at K-Mart. :D

haha good one mosh :) made me smile at least.

I just bought kuhmo supra 712's for my new rims. incompetent monkeys at BJ's couldnt get the old ones off the wheel :( They were really cheap, 140 shipped for 2 at tire rack in 205/40-17.

Supposedly sorta loud, pretty good traction, good in the wet and wear so-so. I'll letcha know how they do once I found someone competent enough to mount them.

"all weather performance tire" = oxymoron

You can't really have a decent performance tire that can do snow and tarmac well... either one or the other.

yes, Falken is mostly known for their Azenis Sports which are only available in a few sizes and are awesome as a dry tire and passable in the wet... very stiff sidewalls and very sticky tire even when cold. MI pretty much covered the rest... he failed to mention that recently Falken was short on all sizes of the Azenis Sports if you wanted them. Toyo's RA1s are R-compound street tires... same problem as the Azenis Sports in the quick wear but all top-notch performance tires don't have long wear. I run Kumho MXs which take heat much better than Falkens and get sticker as the get hot... no greasiness when hot but not as sticky cold.

MXV4s, I have them as the all-seasons on my stock rims. They sucked bad... if you want good performance in dry/wet and snow, the closest thing is prolly a Pirelli all season P7000 SuperSports from TireRack. Forget Falken all-seasons... I've heard good things about Sumitomo all-seasons as well.

EDIT: I owned a set of Kumho 712s, good grip in the wet... standing water isn't a problem at all. However, the traction on the tires drops off quickly... it's not very sticky at all unless the tire gets hot. Useless in the snow... 235 tread width being part of the problem. They lasted 2 full seasons of autoX but they're not a great performance tire.
