Anyone know about an Import PSX?

Hey, I have a question about this import PSX that I recently got. It's definately an import--labels are written in chinese on the outside, but the main boot menu (turn on with on CD) is in Japanese. The model is an SCPH-3500, uses 100 Volts. I'm not sure if the PSX is modded or not, mabye i'll open it up and take a look....

The problem I have with this PSX is that its not playing some of my games. I used to have a modded US playstation and was having great fun......but it broke, and I went and got this import. Now--some of my burned CD games work fine, but others do not--and some of my original PSX (black bottom) games wont run either. Will this import not play US games? Can anyone provide a little more info ? Thanks a lot for the help.

an import psx will only do what it's meant to ... play import psx games
that means you can easily play import (japanese) games on that machine
however, it's not meant to play backups.

also, to that machine, US games are "import", so they won't be able to play US games unless you put in a mod chip (or use action game replay) before loading the games

so basically, the psx you get will only play japanese/asian games. to play backup or us games, get a chip (or you may want to try inserting your old chip in this machine... but i do not guarantee it will work nor will i take any responsibilities)

Yup! You got an overseas model. If you are gonna keep that system and want to MOD it check out Chipzone. Check them out and email them about getting a chip/cartridge for playing your US games. They have a forums, but I would use an email for this problem.

Thanks--I noticed also that under my PSX it has a little "J" next to NTSC, and on my old one (us psx) it says "U/C". I take it that this PSX will play games that have the "J" on the CD and not "U/C"..right?

Also, as it is now, it plays one of my burned CD's already. That CD also worked with my old PSX (which had a plug mod). I take it that the CD must be a japanese game? Because the PSX will play this burned CD, does it have a mod chip in it already, or do all import PSX play CDR's right off the bat? Are there plug mods that will allow this import PSX to play "U/C" games? And if my PSX already has a mod chip in it, and I try and use a plug in one to allow for US games, will it work?
