I am setting up a Vmware lab and looking for some low cost enterprise SSD's for VSAN. I can find some OCZ Deneva 2 R 200 GB for ~90$. They are used which I am ok with and refurb which I am against but I can't find anything in that class unless I want to spend a lot more. 3.6PB is what is listed as the write endurance.

I am using random SSD's(1 intel 320, 1 intel 530, 1 ocz vertex 3) for now since it is just a lab.

I bought some of the used ones and looks like all are good so far. The worst one has used up only 62TB of writes/erases.

That's some good deals on used SSD's. I think you've scored well for the labs. I might look at these for some lab drives too!

The 840 PRO was on my list. I was primarily looking at published write endurance. And even on most higher end SSD's they have only slightly elevated published write endurance.

I am sure I would have been fine with an 840 PRO or likely any decent SSD but I think you roll the dice on endurance. Just like CPU overclocking, I have had some winners and some losers and with a CPU you can check. You have no way of knowing if your SSD hit the endurance lottery.

I bought 6 of the Deneva SSD's and most had just a few TB written. One did have 60TB but when the endurance is listed as 3.6PB it isn't even been broken in at that point.
