Is it just me or are the results of the experiments so predictable?

Aerated Concrete

Along the Median Barriers: No duh it's going to compress under the tires and create a ramp and launch the car halfway or entirely over the barrier into oncoming traffic. And no duh the g-force is still going to be way too high because the stopping distance is just too physically short...

Arrestor Bed: How is this new? Instead of using something expensive like a poured concrete arrestor bed that is entirely demolished after one use, why not just use something like a deep pit of loose gravel that can simply be reshoveled to a flat surface after each use? If I recall correctly gravel arrestor beds ARE in use, and are very effective as well. They would be a HELL of a lot cheaper than this aerated concrete stuff, especially in areas where it's likely multiple cars will crash into the same area within a short period of time.

I'm sitting through the entire show thinking about why they are even bothering to test these things. It's like they don't have the ability to predict what will happen, even though it should be easy to do so.
 
The spray on Rhino liner they put on a pickup truck then blew up was rather interesting. Otherwise I thought similar to you on this show...."They're gonna run out of new/novel ideas before they start covering common sense stuff".

And now they've got that Some Assembly Required show, or whatever exactly it's called. It's like a bad mix of Dirty Jobs and How It's Made, except that it has really irritating hosts, and the camera work isn't nearly as good as How It's Made. Maybe Discovery is intentionally making the new content suck so that more people will switch over the The Science Channel.
Give that a few more years, soon it'll go downhill like TLC did. TLC actually used to have good stuff, but it went on to do stupid paranormal BS and primetime-style reality shows. The Science Channel will do the same - only it'll be in high-definition.
 
I purposefully avoided watching it because of the music they use in the commercials. It seems to me they're ripping off Queens of the Stone Age and AC/DC in the two I've seen. (By ripping off, I mean playing a cover which is ever so slightly different from the original songs as to avoid paying record companies for their use, or so I imagine.)

That show sucks. The people don't even seem to know what they're doing. I couldn't watch it for more than a few 2 minute increments before I gave up.
 
Gravel beds are used to stop run away trucks on grades here in California. If they tested that it would be a "Congratulations for finding out something we've known for decades".

That said, WTF are ghost shows doing on Discovery EVERY DAY? TLC and Discovery used to be science based stuff. When TLC branched out into home repair stuff, I was okay because they taught how to do things. But lately both of these channels have been devolving into pointlessness.
 
what were the results of the "rhino liner" explosion episode?

i was actually watching this show while on a plane across the country (thank you delta in-flight) and we landed right before they showed the explosion!

did the truck stay together more?
 
On mythbusters they were trying to ignite a propane tank with a rifle... now thats entertainment.

aerated concrete... I think I saw that FAA video years ago.

Yes, the truck bed stayed together more.

When put to the test on a building it helps a little, but it still doesn't protect at the portal of the building (windows, doors).


...but yeah, the show sucks and the hosts are idiots.
 
Yeah what they did was like when the post office came out with self sticking stamps.....Thank you so much for inventing the STICKER!
