Anyone just toss away toner carts?

I save genuine HP ones as Staples gives the $3 coupons, but nothing on the others. I usually buy compatible carts from Monoprice. I have been taking the empties to Staples just to get rid of them, but I'm starting to just want to pitch them in the trash.

Dozens of these things a month piling up are just a pain in the ass. Just curious if they are "safe" enough to throw away with regular trash, as I've never really thought about it till just now.

Here at work, if they have a UPS label or something to send them back then they get sent back. If they don't have a return label for recycling, they go in the trash.

The way I see it, we are selfish in just about every one of our daily interactions and decisions why not take the two seconds to properly recycle stuff, stop being so lazy. I keep them and recycle.

I stick the old LaserJet cartridges back in the box they came in and ship them off to HP. They come with a handy prepaid UPS shipping label.
Just wait for the UPS deliveryman to stop in with a delivery, and then foist the waiting cartridge boxes on him.

laser toners get sent back to the manufacturer with prepaid labels. one of the emplyees here collects them for the school or something. i guess the school gets money or something from it.

Dosen't staples/officemax/depot give you a free ream of paper for bringing in used toner carts?

Heres a tip: Don't think you can take remaining toner from random old cartridges and dump it into an almost empty cartridge and expect it to work...

Actually you can sell them http://www.tonerbuyer.com/mylist.html...earn some money...much more than staples...

I tried using the staples 3$ coupons online...they only allow 3 at a time...and some of them don't work...they kinda suck...and can easily be guessed by anyone, since their serial numbers are sequential...

but yeah...try to recycle...you get more $$$

oooopss this should be the correct link

AFAIK it's only on HP or Lexmark carts (not generic).

And yeah, I could see how mixing carts could be bad :p
