The end of this race was a joke, Barrichello basicly lead the whole race then had to move over for Michael.Schumacher so he would win the race. The whole crowd is booing. The Ferrari team can go suck a nut. This is the main reason I donâ??t like F1 as much as I used too itâ??s all politics and cars the drivers donâ??t even seem to matter any more.

Yeah, i mean WTF happened :|

Barrichello was the winner of that race, and the bloody politics of the whole thing took away what he had fought for. Schumacher was behind all of the time i was watching it, and Barrichello was driving a much better race :|

This is an outrage :| Now he's saying it's cos he has "just signed a 2 year contract so was doing what they want" :(

And Schumacher was on 44 points before the race, and nearest was Montoya on 23!

And now Schumacher talking, it's not making it any better mate! Barrichello was still robbed :|

This has happened before in the Ferrari campaign a few years back. I believe that the second driver will have to let the first driver win it if he is asked to. There's noway he can complain about it because it's part of the contract.

How do you justify that it's still too EARLY in the season to do this? Do you KNOW what's gonna happens the rest of the season? No.

Better safe than sorry.

I don't think Barrichello will be pissed or anything, he KNEW this day gonna come before he join Ferrari. It's part of the crontract.

I too believe the dicesion sucked. Very unfair on Brrichello:(

But it was the teams decision and they are under contract under the team........

Like your contract says you work every Saturday. You want time off on a Saturday but you don't get it as your contract says you WORK on Saturday. Tough but you bought in to the job. Like the drivers bought in to there contracts.....

Unfortunately I haven't been watching F1 much this year :(. Nothing was more exciting than the year Villeneuve won. Now Ferrari has no competition.

Team orders has been a part of F1 for years, but it was usually not exercised until late in the year, when a guy was desperately trying to hang onto his points lead or catch the leader. If you're going to do it for the entire season, IMO it makes a mockery of your "team" and of competition in F1.

But, guess what? Rubens had to do it last year too!

Barrichello Ignored Initial Team Orders

Sunday May 13th, 2001

Transcripts of the pit-car radio transmissions between Ferrari and their
drivers reveal that Rubens Barrichello was asked to move over to teammate
Michael Schumacher three laps before the race ended. However, Barrichello
initially ignored the request.

The Brazilian driver, who led the race until he came into the pits on lap 47,
was overtaken by eventual winner David Coulthard, with Schumacher running
closely behind them in third place.

According to reports in the Brazilian press, Ferrari's sporting director, Jean
Todt, went on the radio with Barrichello on lap 69, three laps to the end,
saying: "Rubens, please let him pass."

At the same time, the team's technical director, Ross Brawn, told Michael
Schumacher on the radio, "OK, Michael, we had already told [Rubens to move]".
However, Barrichello ignored the request and continued driving in second.

A lap later, driving by the pitlane, Todt is heard yet again ordering
Barrichello to move for Schumacher, however this time in a high pitched voice.
Todt is heard repeating the order, "let him pass, let him pass", several times,
in greater intensity.

Eventually, just meters off the finish line, Barrichello obeyed and moved aside
for his teammate, who finish second and maintained a four-point lead in the WC
standings over race winner Coulthard.

Asked after the race whether him letting Schumacher pass only on the very last
corner was a form of protest against the team's orders, Barrichello replied:
"Perhaps, yes."

That was a real disgrace. At least last year's "team strategy" made some sense in the context of Ferrari's season, whereas today's decision seemed totally unnecessary - Montoya does not pose any genuine threat to Schumacher's fifth championship. Barichello was amazingly magnanimous in the post-race press conference, but it's hard to believe he would not have been thrilled to have his second-ever F1 victory.

If you really want to chat about F1- head over to Atlas F1 Forums The blood is flowing knee deep over there. As a Michael Schumacher fan, its a tough day to swallow. Damn Todt, Brawn and Ferrari for ordering this and shame on Michael for following the order. He's still my man- but its terribly bitter.

Apparently Rubens lifted, Michael lifted more, Rubens braked, and Michael took the checkered.

I don't know about blaming Schumacher for this. He could hardly have refused, without jeopardizing Ferrari's 1st and 2nd placings and his and others' safety.

The problem you have, is that every main stream sporting event, where money can be bet, can also be rigged or predetermined. :|

I would not exactly say this was "rigged," and I can't see how gambling had anything at all to do with it. This was just team strategy by Ferrari, taken to the extreme.
