Here's the deal:

You buy one CD at regular price (about $17) and get 10 free. Nothing else to buy. I think the catch is that you have to pay shipping for each selection. Does anyone know how much this is? They don't say on the literature. Anyone know if this is really a good deal?

If I'm not mistaken they ship the others all at once so even if it was $20 for shipping that is still a good deal.

Last I knew the shipping was per cd that descended in price after the first one to the third one. It used to be around $2.5 per cd which isn't bad. After getting freinds to join (which is very easy) the avg cost from join to quit was under $3 a cd. And they think Napster is a threat!

Their shipping and handling charges are $2.69 for the first one and $2.49 for the rest in the same shipment, plus sales tax. If that's not exactly right, it's within a dime or two. Even with the S&H, it's a good deal.

And if you want to order, use their web site. You don't have to pick from the catalogs they send you every 25 days or so. You can also use the web site to decline the automatic selection, so you don't have to use a stamp sending the card back.

i've done BMG like 3 seperate times.... it can be a good deal as long as you keep denying the "featured selections" they send every month....

you can do this online though so it's really easy... just go to their site once a month...

one thing that sucks is that they are very spotty in getting new albums... For example Madonna's newest album isn't on there yet...

if you want to start a CD collection of older stuff then it's a good deal but it's definetly not a way to save money if u're only interested in new stuff

I was a member once. What a waste of time! No Pink Floyd! Does that make sense to you? NO FLOYD? WTF? :|

Out of all of Bowie's music, they have a single best of compilation. Again, WTF? :|

downsides to BMG: limited selection and you will end up paying about $4-5 per cd. Not entirely bad. You can check out their complete selection on their site.

If you're paying $4-5 a cd, your doing it wrong. Never join without getting someone else some free cd's and when you're ready to order more, have someone join... even if you have to buy the cd's for them ;) You can even have them or yourself quit and join again through each other.

I found columbia house's selection much better.
