Anyone into vintage computing?

This.

386s and 486s might technically qualify as "vintage," but I don't consider it as such. The "true" stuff is much older and radically different in terms of hardware and software. You can get emulators for Amiga, for example, but I've never had a great experience with them. The emulators never seem to get it quite right.

I worked with one called ASSIST to learn 360/370 assembler that worked surprisingly well.

486's on ebay? Hell, I just dropped off about a dozen 486 clones and P70/75's to the recycling place a few weeks ago. I sat on them forever, not being able to find a way to sell them even for zippo$. After hearing enough nagging, I dumped them. I still have boxes of crap to dump when I get around to it. Modems, misc old cards, ps2 or older kvm's... a bunch of worthless crap.

Luckily I can find a couple places where any old machine that will run windows can find a good home and help some needy people along the way. I usually donate to the Blind Center here in Sin City. Where do you think thrift stores get their goodies. The point is the charitable deduction is better than a drive to the dump.

BTW Tombstone1881 Las Vegas was once part of Arizona Territory after we were part of New Mexico Territory.

Finally got around to benching the DEC 466 tonight and was pleasantly surprised. Owning this has been a blast so far. Loaded up some old games I haven't played in years and I'm just rockin it like the old days. Thinking about adding a network card to jump on Usenet and IRC just for kicks haha.
Anyway here is the bench results.

Not into it at all, and in fact, really old low resolution color screens kind of creep me out. I don't mind the black and green terminal... but something about VGA/16 colors bothers me.

Its not a oh I need 4k supremacy kind of thing, I get legitimately bothered by distorted TV's (like snow or old blocked channels) and old computer screens for some reason.

I run my monitors and cable modem off a 24 year old APC 450AT (600VA). Does that count? Just replaced the batteries again this week.
