I've never looked. I don't see why they wouldn't caryy it. If you can't find it there, I'm sure you could order it easilly. Order it online, or ask the store to order it for you.

Yes, vegetable will work fine. I usually use whatever mild-flavor oil I have around (vegetable, canola, etc.).

Oh, and if you're in to cheese popcorn, grab a shaker full of this: Cheese Powder. (Do like 1/2 cup of kernels and a couple of tablespoons of oil, let it pop, and then add this stuff after).

Movie popcorn flavoring is highly carcinogenic BTW.

Thats only if you inhale the flavorings. It is not just movie theater popcorn either, it is all store bought microwave popcorn as well. But like I said you have to inhale the flavoring, and the only way to do that is be in the factory that makes the flavoring/product.

A ha! I see I jumped the gun a little early there. I knew it couldn't be cancerous or anything since millions of people go to the movies every weekend.

Well, I just ordered the Whirley-Pop Stovetop Popcorn Popper from Amazon. Tonight I will buy some Morton popcorn salt and use my existing butter and make some delicious popcorn when the Whirley arrives!

We have a unique blend that is very tasty, my kids love it.

Olive oil or butter
Soy Sauce
Nutritional Yeast

It's really tasty, and the yeast adds a nutritional component :)

Nice, let me know how that turns out! I ordered the West Bend Stir Crazy Popcorn Popper plus a couple of those $2 popcorn books.

Popper? WTF, use a pan with a glass top (nice for watchign the popping). Heat pan, put in some peanut oil (you don't need much), heat oil, place a couple of sacrificial kernels in the oil, and when those pop, pour in the rest of the kernels (say about 1/4 cup for a decently large bowl for two people to share). Shake the pan as close to the stove as you can like three to four out of every five seconds and you'll have homemade popcorn in a couple of minutes. Soooooo much better than microwaveable popcorn, IMO. Last time I did this I had all of three unpopped kernels with no burned poppage. :)

Oh, and FWIW, I think that the Whirley Pop will never let you down. That other popper seems like it would be a PITA to clean.

I planned on coming in this thread to refer you to Whirley Pop, too. Whirley Pop official site

It is THE BEST popcorn I have ever had.

The link to amazon above in the post above is MORE EXPENSIVE than buying directly from Wabash in my link above.

You don't need a machine. just use a 6 qt pan with lid.

Add just enough vegitable oile to cover the bottom, heat until hot.

Add 1/4 cup popcorn

Shake pot over burner (don't splash the oil) until corn is popped.
Season to taste.

edit: buy orville redenbocker popcorn kernals.... much better quality than the cheap brands.

They both look like $25 to me.

That does look easier to clean than the west bend one. I'm thinking about giving it a shot. Are there any problems using it on a gas stove?

*edit* after reading some of the amazon reviews, it seems that the plastic gears fail pretty quickly. Anyone here have that problem?
