Anyone into acapella?

Dug out one of my favorite Persuasions CDs, Sincerely.

The Persuasions have been around for >30yrs and they still rock. Damn, that Jerry Lawson can sing!

If you get a chance to see them in person (or any acapella for that matter) I highly recommend it.

Rockapella took their vocal style from The Persuasions, as do most other contemporary vocal groups.

If you like Rockapella you'll probably love The Persuasions.

Not so much anymore. I like "original" a cappella. Regardless of skill/talent, your garden-variety collegiate a cappella group vocalizing common pop radio songs gets pretty old after you hear the 4th group sing "Hey Ya" without any interpretation other than replacing instrumental sounds with vocalese.

That was supposed to be a joke 😱

I don't see why. Rockapella is a good acapella group.

Not so much. I can dig a little barbershop, but even then it's gotta have a horn and banjo and whatnot.

Hehe barbershop rules; I don't know why more people aren't into it. rockapella is cool too, and I loved Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. ohhhh I miss that show!!!

I've sung barbershop before, it's fun. I'm trying to get a quartet put together, but we need a fourth guy, someone who can hit the high notes.
