Just wondering..

I have been hearing a bunch of commercials for it now but I don't actually know anyone who is going to spend the money on it...

Not me. I have a pretty good local station (public radio) and a ton of CDs with MP3s!

You've heard of Pay-Per-View? Now we have Pay-Per-Listen. Satellite-based broadcasts of music/sports/news for a monthly fee. Can only be picked up by certain new radios.

I am kinda waiting to see if it will last. I spend an hour every day commuting and thereisn't good sports talk here in MN (DAYTIME RADIO) So I am considering it. When I bought my CD deck for the truck it is XM ready. Also I would like to have this in my house. But I normally just listen to Internet, but can't when I'm playing games!

I hope they have enough $ to pay for all their advertising costs and startup costs...personally I don't think $10/month is too bad (one large pizza a month, less than the price of one CD (not that anybody here buys CDs anyways...)), my rich friend is getting it for Christmas, so we will see how it works.

I'm definately interested in it. I'm hoping they carry a ton of sports, like every baseball game, if they do, I'd definately do it. I'm about 20 miles too far north to get my Yankees on 770 clearly, so I'd definately pay $10 even 20 monthtly just to get them.

I've been using it for a month now and I love it. The sound quality is great and the variety of stations is one of the best features. I've grown tired of the local radio and I can hardly find any decent news channels when I travel. $10 a month is a lot of money anyways. I'm sure that anyone here that does consulting or has a decent job makes that much in 10-15 minutes of work.

They DO have commercials on these stations. In an interview, one of the XM guys said that it was a relatively small amount of commercials per hour. To invest in these things is a big step. The deck goes for what, like $300+? Might as well buy a CDRW drive for free after MIR:)D) and burn your own CDs (Unless you dont wanna go through hours and hours of downloading)
