Listening to the Houston Fire department live right now. Tornado damage and flooding reports keep coming in. Reports of destroyed houses, hospital without power(having to change trauma routes).

One Engine is unable to make it to a trauma scene because of high water.

Reports of MULTIPLE people trapped. Not sure if due to flooding or a building collapse.

North of Beaumont and Houston are 8-9 inches of rain(radar estimated).

Main rivers through Houston are coming out of their banks.

Reports of having to deploy a boat because a ladder truck is being swept away by the river. 10-12 inches of rain north of college station.

River flooding increasing.

<-- Works in downtown Houston.

We got hit pretty bad with a freakin' waterfall's worth of rain, but no tornados showed up in the immediate vicinity. There are some downed trees right outside my building, and even a manhole cover got knocked out of place by all the water that was accumulated in the underground area.

Fortunately, the rain has died down significantly as of right now. I think I'll be able to catch the bus and still remain dry. :) As of the drive back, however, my wife informed me that the ditch by a major street I take home has flooded over. Hmmm...

I am listening to the Houston Police radio scanner. Lots of stalled cars on the freeway. The water is going down now, so the cops are frantically calling for wreckers. One cop's car is stuck in the middle of the freeway!

Speaking of The Great Indoors, I feel so sad that the store is closing down. It was such a nice store. Well designed and well planned. I am sorry to see it go away.

The one on I-10 and the Beltway is still opened. I love the store, but their prices really aren't all that great.

At Jefferson and Smith, close to the ex-Enron buildings. I live up in Spring; it took me a good two and a half hours to get home, when it normally takes about 50 minutes. I got lucky, though -- I saw lots of cars that were stuck in the floods on the feeder roads on I-45. So sad. :(

I live out in Katy. I take the bus. Left work at 5:15, arrived home at 9:00 PM. What a long night.

Funny side story. We were about 10 minutes from the bus station and this guy mutters "I can't hold it any longer". He walks up to the bus driver, who then pulls off the side of highway and the guy gets out. An no, we didn't wait, she just left him on the side of the road to fend for himself. He just couldn't hold it for a few more minutes. I laughed, but felt sorry for him at the same time.
