What is the possibility of identifying a merchant by their ID number that's on the statement.
Money is being drawn from an account but it only shows up as "Merchant Billin"

That would be easy for them to know, and lots of payment processing places do that.
You just call up your bank, and tell them you don't recognize the transaction ID/reference #, and you want to know who it is.
