See related post - before I take my whole system apart I was hoping someone with a spare system (PCIe) could drop the card in and see if it posts.

Well it was worth a shot, Alexandria is just across the river from DC and a lot of high-tech folks live here. Still looking, will bribe with a 6-pack of your favorite beverage 🙂
 
OK, I broke down and bought a cheapie x300 card from BBuy and it ... WORKS PERFECTLY. So this card is going back to NewEgg for yet another RMA 🙂
