Anyone here work for Arby's?

If so, why are they always trying to shove curly fries on you?

When I order, I ask for a #2. Then the reply is always the same "curly fries and a pepsi with that?". No, I'll make my own choices thanks. I then say "homestyle fries please". Then when he/she reads back the order, they say curly fries again.

And then 75% of the time at least, I get up to the window, get my food, and look in the bag- you guessed it, curly fries!!

This has happened with multiple people, day or night, doesn't matter, and today the manager even did it to me.

My question is, why push the curly fries so hard? Do you guys get a bonus for this? Is there a curly fry quota that I'm unaware of? I dont know why you guys push them so much, but i hate curly fries. They give me heartburn. I just want to know why people are so determined to give them to me.

I think the curly fries are good, but their prices suck. With tax, its over $7 for a giant roast beef combo at my local Arby's now.

Curly fries are awesome, everyone I've ever been there with has gotten them.. I think the majority of people go with them, so they might make a mistake? When I've been to arby's they were the same price as regular fries so I don't know why they'd need to push them.

I have a similar problem. I always order two mediums and alway get two regulars. Of couse, they really should have some more distinct names.

I always have Arby's coupons, so I get two big sandwichs and a curly fries for $5.

Arbies was the first restaurant to popularize the curly fries... its one of their trademark items... which would be no different than Wendys asking you if you want a frosty with your meal, which they do nearly every time you order.

That would make sense. It's still pretty annoying. I go to three different ones, depending on where I'm at at the time, and they are all consistent. So I figure its gotta be a company thing, or at least a regional thing.

Sounds like the franchisee in your area is a hardass about curly fries. I've never had them suggest a fry type, second guess me, or give me the wrong ones.

I worked at Arby's for 3 years - although that was a decade ago. In those three years, only once was there a program to push an item. The more large Pepsi's that were sold, the bigger a party we got at the end of the promotion. It really wasn't much of an incentive so many employees didn't care.

For us, it was the local owner who wanted that Pepsi promotion and it wasn't a national thing. Arby's are franchises and the franchise owner has a lot of sway - selecting menu items, prices, promotions, etc. So even if your Arby's does have a program like that, none of the rest of us probably have that program at their local Arbys.

It could be a local program, but I think it isn't what is going on. I think what you really are seeing is the history of the curly fries and beef and cheddar sandwich (#2 on the menus that I've seen). It was before my time, but curly fries used to be exclusively sold in large bowls smothered in cheese while the straight fries were just regular fries. People started dipping their roast beef sandwhiches in that curly fry cheese. Arby's saw that pattern and developed the beef and cheddar sandwich to go along with the curly fries.

For years the beef and cheddar sandwhich and curly fries were sold together and promoted together. People who want one usually want the other. Thus, the local workers probably just assume you want both since all the other customers want that combination.

Try ordering other sandwhiches and see if they suggest the homestyle fries instead.

Huh? I've been going to Arby's for almost 30 years now, and the Beef and Cheddar sandwich was around well before they had curly fries on the menu...

Well it wasn't where I was at. And anyways, that doesn't matter - my point is still the same. 95% of people getting the beef and cheddar want curly fries. It has been heavilly promoted together and people now want them together. That is probably why they first ask if you want curly fries with the beef and cheddar.

Arby's Curly Fries > *

I normally get a Giant Roast Beef and Giant (Large) Curly Fries, and smother everything in Arby's Sauce.

Damn, this thread makes me want an Arby's roast beef sandwich and some curly fries.

The nearest Arby's is 65 miles away though. 🙁
