Anyone here with an Audigy card?

I am looking for the 8MB creative GM soundfont soundbank. I believe the creative audigy cards can either use the 2mb, 4mb, or 8mb one. I have a SBLive! and it has only the 2mb and the 4mb soundfont.

Please if anyone knows what I am talking about, can you send me the 8mb file? It should be something like 8GMGSMT.sf2 or CT8MGM.sf2, found in either the windows/system32/, or windows/system32/drivers/ or in the programs/creative/(audigy/sblive)/soundfont. I did a search on my comp for *.sf2 on the primary drive and it only found the 2mb and the 4mb version (the 4mb version is only e-mu 8000 and sf2.0, whereas the smaller 2MB is e-mu 10k and sf2.01). A bigger soundfont can usually mean better samples and better quality sound.

I have found larger and better soundbanks out there, but they don't play right for some reason (I get some crackle and noise). Perhaps I should get a newer card with better MIDI capabilities; any recomendations while youre reading this thread?

PM me for an email address.

Thanks a lot in advance and happly holidays.

on my sblive value 4.1 card, the file exist in installation cd, path : <cd drive>:\AUDIO\ENGLISH\SFBANK. Did your installation cd still around ? Sorry i can't send you the files because i'm on dial up connection. AFAIK the setup program intentionally didn't copy the 8 megs sf2. Let me know how it goes.

bah..its ok...i found the 8mb bank and its no better than the 4mb or 2mb imo. I just went with a 32MB soundbank from Music Theoria..sounds pretty good, althought the default piano is a littel bright for my tastes, but the other grand piano soundbanks are a littel to muffled, unlcear.

thanks for your help gryfon, and happy holidays everyone

clear both banks, there are two, A and B (on creatives that is, the last tab in the soundfont manager has a choise between which soundfont device (Synth A and Synth B)). and then set the cache to little as possible. This will utilize the least memory, but if your clear the banks, you will have no midi funtionality, unless you use software synth, but that can take up more resources (in cpu) then does soundbanks and your soundcard.
