Anyone here with a ReplayTV 5504? (EDIT: Replay 5500's vs Tivo Series 2, which is better?)

Now I gotta sell our 4 month old ReplayTV 5040.

Why did you switch to a Tivo?

Why did you switch to a Tivo?

1) Because it was $99 - $100 rebate = FREE
2) My wife prefers the Tivo interface over ReplayTV.
3) I was itching to buy something that day and this fulfilled that desire.

:p

I have 4 refurbed 5040's networked around my house. They were $29 each, shipped, no rebate, direct from their website.

I love the built-in network sharing on these things.

ReplayTV is also offering discounted subscription rates ($6.95 vs. 12.95 per month) on the the second and third units you get in your house.

Replay > Tivo. While the 5504 doesnt have auto commercial advance, all you have to do is hit the right arrow and it will skip over the commercials. As others have said it has tons of capability, and upgrading the drive is cake, mine has a 160GB.

How many hours does that give you?

Medium quality is 70ish High is like 50 low is like 100+

Thats frickin sweet, so high quality gives you 50 hours?!?!

I think I may look for a deal on a 250gig drive. I can't wait for the next twilight zone marathon

Go for the 5504, I cannot beat their offer :)

I got your vm yesterday, you're probably better off ebaying the 5040. You can probably get a couple of hundred for it since its a hot commodity. In the meantime my cheap radar is compelling me to order the 5504 for 50 bucks.

Really!? COOL! Where do you see this? I looked on the site and couldn't find this info. I've already got a 5040 w/ lifetime, and I'd love to get a second one at $7 a month.

I'll keep searching, but if you have a link, it'd be much appreciated. :D
edit 2: Here's that link. MultiUnit Discounted Monthly Rate. It was right off the home page. I should start my searches there from now on. :)
edit 2: Couldn't resist. I bought my second unit just now. Can't wait!! :D

I am also very tempted with the $50 refurb unit and the lower rate. I would like 2 more to accompany my lifetime unit.
