John Stewart came off as arrogant and preachy. They get to choose what kind of show they put on and of course what kind of show people are willing to watch.

not if they advertised their show as real debate show and they're on CNN the news network...
It's true a lot of the time they're painful to watch because they tow party line instead of holding their guest to honest open debate where everyone who told lies or just repeat party lines will be exposed...

Anyone buy his book? I flipped through it and it looked pretty funny. Not sure if it's worth the money they want though.

Even as a hardcore Republican, I would vote for Stewart were he to run.

Stewart is a dumbass. You don't go on national television and constantly ridicule people if you disagree with them. He tried to be all articulate and nonchalant about it, but all he was doing is trying to get people to cheer for him and make the other hosts feel uncomfortable. What did he accomplish? Nothing. Also, I lose a lot of respect for someone that would call Cooper or Tucker or whatever his name was a dick on national TV, just as a comeback for a somewhat genuine observation. That's just rediculous. I love it how he shuts up after that first and 2nd set, because I think he realized he overstepped his bounds. It's people like him that make me hate politics.

Oh, you don't?

Looks to me like he just did -- and in case you haven't noticed, most people are cheering for him for doing it.

exactly he said what was needed to be said, people need to wake up, shows like crossfire are just tools for politicians and dont do anything for actual debates

"How old are you?"
"35."
"And you were a bo-tie."

Ah, finally!

I think he may have started off somewhat facetiously, although when tucker went on the offensive he had no chance to win, because JS can always refer back to the fact that his show is comedy and doesn't pretend otherwise. "The show that leads into me is puppets making crank phone calls!" He is actually quite right. I've seen Crossfire on occassion and it's somewhat fun to watch, but it is just partisan hackery, but then that's how the populous wants it. Democrats like the black and white of their being good and repubs bad, and vice versa. Most voters are just too stupid to appreciate that their side is not 100% right and the other side does have good points. It makes it too hard on their little brains, so that's why a show like crossfire can flourish. People have no sense of truth and fairness.
