To be fair, your attempt at e-peen has the unintended effect of screaming "Stop reading now, skip the rest of this post" to everyone who doesn't want a VOIP server in their home.

I've used Magic Jack the last few years. I've got an old model that plug into my wife's computer. Works great for the price. Had some issues calling family in VT when Verizon sold out to FairPoint for a little bit but eventually we got that worked out. I think there is a button on the windows GUI app, but I usually just listen to it from my cell as they email me a .wav file.

Good. I'm tired of people not using the search function, to which this very topic was discussed probably a dozen times in the last six months alone..
