I'd say go on Amazon and read all of the 1-star reviews.

But wireless charging is pretty slow and unreliable in general. I don't know why people bother.

Should be reliable, although I don't see much advantage compared to wired charging. A previous phone I had with built-in wireless charging (a Palm Pixi Plus) was very reliable. It used a strong permanent magnet inside the charging pad to keep the phone correctly oriented for charging.
Any slim case that's going to fit this receiver with the IP6S+?

That device is not intended to remain attached 24/7 to the phone. You plug in the charging receiver to the iPhone only while charging. You can answer a call with it still attached, but it would be dangling below the phone while using the phone.
Note: there exist other "home brew" solutions that slip the charging receiver inside the factory supplied phone case. However, I wouldn't recommend that solution.
Maybe in 5 or 10 years, a factory built-in wireless charging solution will be offered for iPhones and other brands, besides the very few that currently offer them.
