If you use TMPGenc and Virtual Dub with no problems whatsoever; please tell me what Codec(s) / Codec Pack you use.

A year ago I downloaded these programs and had no problem what so ever... But now I'm having all these errors and I've downloaded the Defiler Pak and I still get errors.

Virtual Dub gives me the "VFM CODEC" error and TMPGenc gives me a "ADDRESS ERROR" and then a "CODEC ERROR"

Strange. . .

BTW: I'm using it on .AVI DIVX/XVIDs

I've also had trouble using TMPGENC with AVI DIVX. Maybe www.videohelp.com has an answer for you - I was never able to get TMPGENC to produce a good MPG from one of these files.

I don't use TMPGEnc for this reason. VirtualDub and VDubMod are awesome programs though. The other Encoder that I used to use, and can't think of the name of now, is better - but still has problems.

Depending on what your doing, DVD2SVCD is a great program, and does a lot more then make DVD's into SVCD's, and vice versa. Will do most anything, but will require one of these Encoders as well.

You can find it at www.doom9.org along with tons of information that will help you out. Overall a much better resource then www.videohelp.com but I suggest you use both any way.

I used to use Virtual Dub and TMPGEnc to turn .AVI into VCD. Worked fine... I believe I had the ffdshow codec pack.

I'm using TMPGENC Plus, but I'm running into some other issues.

I'm trying to burn some anime episodes to dvds with a cool root menu with background music (ripped from soundtrack).

got the dvd 2 (episode 6-10) done, but of course it is a never ending improvment project everytime. right now I'm trying to improve the quality and the file size

the funny thing is, I have it set up on two computers,

1 - Dell Latitude D600 laptop
2 - Compaq Proliant ML370 G3 (2 processors)

with the exact same setting, the 22 anime clip is giving me a different file size on both. the laptop yield 860meg, while the server gave me a 1.2 gig file!!

for you guys having problem even running it, go to options, environmental settings, make sure DirectShow multimedia file reader is at the top, if not, give it more priority.
