Just curious if anyone here uses Pidgin....I actually like it and usually I hate things like GAIM...just one question though....where the ****** is the block list??? I can block people but it seems to wear off the next time I sign on which pisses me off, as I have a substantial block list.

Pidgin rawks. I used to use trillian, but pidgin does the same thing and more for free :)

I use Trillian Pro, but I'll give this program a look-see. :)

EDIT: Just wanted to add, I'm getting tired of Trillian's same interface, since I've been using it for the last 3 years.

I am using it and love it...couple quirks and Direct connect and file send don't always work as consistently as AIM but still better.

My friend just switched to Pidgin and loves it. I'm still a Meebo fan ;)

No, I use Adium.

Which is powered by the same base code as Pidgin, iirc.

Is it? Well, I hated GAIM.

Uh, I am pretty sure even the GAIM developers supported Adium. Adium is only for OS X, right? And Pidgin isn't available for OS X, right?

Edit: Well this is in the current Pidgin FAQ:

Can I run Pidgin on MacOSX?

Yes you can, but we do not provide a package for it. The reason being that in order to use Pidgin on MacOSX, you need to install an X server and GTK+, which we are not prepared to support. You can either compile Pidgin (and its dependencies) yourself, or you can use the fink installer available from http://fink.sf.net. If you would like a native aqua interface or a user-friendly installer, we suggest trying Adium, available at http://www.adiumx.com/

Pidgin is awesome. I used gaim for the past year and a half and it was okay. I could have kept using AIM 5.5 with DeadAIM 4.5, but AIM was giving me some nonsense "ran out of memory" errors, so I was just like "f#ck it" and made the switch.

OMG, this is AWESOME! It was such a nice and clean interface! It looks very simplistic, and the sounds are much better. :D

As far as I remember, the themes program installed to a directory (on XP) called GTK+ where I can open the Theme Selector. From there, I pick a theme, close Pidgin and reopen it and it will have the newly selected theme.

From the description of the plugin, it opens the chat window from a person that is going to send a message before they actually send it message. It picks up on the fact that they are typing a message.
