Anyone here use a tv as a second monitor and use extended display? (ATI)

Is there a way to switch back to one display without going to Catalyst to change back to one display? Hoping for something auto or an app that will run in the tray

If you have windows 7, press Winkey+P.

That seems like it should work but it think my tv is the main device so when I select pc it turns off my monitor? Any way to fix it?

I guess this is related but I also can't seem to just duplicate my desktop to the tv. When I select the option, my screen shrinks and the tv is switched to primary.

I checked the settings - my lcd is definitely set to primary

I use a 32" 1080p XBR9 as my second display (fantastic, btw), but i do not stretch anything onto it. I use it independently of my primary display, although both are in Windows when it comes to the desktop. WinXP x86 here. I use UltraMon to control it all... desktop arrangement, wallpapers, swapping which display is primary (needed to get some games to display on the TV), etc.

Why do people use ATI/Nvidia dual monitor controls when everything they do is already in Windows?

And with Win7 being able to switch maximized windows I don't really need Untramon anymore.

Because I didn't know the option was there? I don't remember it being in Vista and I didn't know about it in Win 7 till now.

Windows simply decides which display it's going to call "primary" and which it's going to call "projector." Or maybe it has something to do with whichever your graphics card labels "output 1" vs "output 2." In any case, the Winkey+P command is targeted mostly at laptops, which is why it says Projector in the first place.

On a desktop, you just have to learn which display windows thinks is the projector and which isn't, and then you can get it to do what you want. Sounds like it's working for you
