i can get a good deal on a spot there practiclly free. THe one i have in mind is kind of low end but there at least a few thousand people in there total on a saturday. I was thinking of just doing it as a side thing, make my own pcs, maybe even buy bareboness off ebay and sell um for a lil profit. Just wondering if anyone has tried it, or whats your thoughts

hmm, seems to me like you could potentially make a killing...

maybe even sell systems at only a little over cost, then charge $50/hour to setup and instruct

I don't think I'd do it. People would want tech support for free afterwords.

I doubt you could get a good margin. People don't go to fea markets looking to spend $400.

Nightmare.. I did it many moons ago, and the Flea Market demographic doesn't bode well for profit.

Actually, I just tossed out my old sign..It was named "PCFlea". :D

Go for the gold and sell high end gaming systems. You will make a fortune! God, why didn't I think of this first?

Basically you would have to get the crappiest components possible, used. Then sell for very very cheap, cash. Flea market systems are usually a few years behind and poorly assembled but are sold for around $300.

I can just say good luck. Of course, if your market has no big PC presence, you may do fairly well, but the market is a tough-sell environment. You'll experience a lot of lookers and screwballs vs. buyers.

I've found, and I've sold a few dozen systems via this route, that $200 or so is the sweet spot which is why used systems are typically the easiest to sell instead of new. On the other hand, a couple of years back when Dell had that system with the free 15" LCD monitor for way cheap, I bought a dozen of the systems and unloaded all of them in two weekends at a flea market......basically selling the systems and monitors as separate items. They went fast, but the Dell name helped and the warranty/support from Dell did a lot of the selling for me.

And your buyers will come back to seek support even if they say they won't. It can be a big PITA sometimes, especially when you are catering to a very low denominator.

Yeah, I was going to say just re-sell Dell stuff. Let them talk to the fine folks in India for tech support.

Of course after your customers are on hold for 2 weeks, your life may be in danger.
