Anyone here the CNN piece on outsourcing to Canada

Apparently some companies are outsourcing to Canada due to lower labor costs particularly health care. I didn't realize Canada actually had cheaper labor. More power to em.

This has been going on for a long time like many other types of outsourcing. The auto industry in particular has been moving huge amounts of stuff across the Michigan-Ontario border for at least 25 years now.

The USD is worth 15-20% more than the canadian dollar....

This is also true, but Health Care must also be a huge incentive.

heck hollywood pretty much outsourced itself to Canada, a ton of movies and tv shows are shot in Canada especially in toronto which could be used as a backdrop for almost any city.

When the head of GM Canada spoke to my business class she indicated that Canada's health care system is one of the major reasons to do business in Canada. It apparantly cost corporations a lot less for health care in Canada than it does in the U.S.

News flash! Socialized cost effective healthcare gives Canadian workers competitive edge over their American counterparts with high cost, high profit hodgepodge coverage. Oh, yeh, and drugs are cheaper for them, too...

Damn, where are those "free market" apologists, anyway? I've seen 'em around here, before, but they're awfully quiet at the moment...
