my doctor prescribed lipitor for me but changed it to zocor.

Can tricor effect your liver like the other statins (maybe Tricor isn't a statin...)

I recall a post about the problems with your body...if you really put your mind to it you could change some of them--bad posture and your weight. It won't be easy but there are some things within your control.

Maybe you could consider something else besides Acutane for your acne. That's some rough stuff man.

Lipitor 20mg here. And does this stuff really mess up your liver because if it does wtf am I taking it for? I die from high cholesterol or liver failure either way Im gonna die and I will rather take my chances with high cholesterol.

It CAN screw your liver up. Does your doctor monitor your liver enzymes when you have your blood drawn for your cholesterol checkups?

40mg lipitor every day... it can mess with your liver, so you need to have a complete liver panel done on a regular basis. consult your doctor if you have any concerns.

btw, it cut my cholesterol almost in half in 6 months. I had a total cholesterol over 300, and at last check, it was down to about 170.

any side effects? did it raise your liver enzymes or did you get muscle pains?

I was on lipitor 10mg a day, a very low dose, but my liver didn't like it, so my doctor put me on Zetia, a fat blocker, which is friendlier to my liver, my cholesterol went from 230 total to 160total, and 60-70mg(?) of that is the good cholesterol, so its all good now!

jesus, you guys on lipitor are taking some bad risks with your liver.

my father-in-law switched off lipitor and onto red yeast rice extract ($30/month) and his cholesterol has gone down more than it ever did with lipitor. confirmed by checks at the doctors office. best thing was the docs look on his face when we told him we switched off lipitor months back for a simple herbal supplement.

i learned about red yeast rice extract in a health magazine article comparing it to statins. it works as advertised.

Lipotor 20mg per day. Cholesterol went from 250 to 108 in 3 months. This along with a radical change in my diet and increasing my exercise did the trick. BTW, I eat cheerios daily for breakfast as well. :)

If you need a boost in your cholesterol try Armor "Pork Brains in Milk Gravy"
Comes in a can like Vienna sausages, a guy at work from 'Bama' brought them in and the label stated
1024% of your recommended daily cholesterol intake. :Q

Red Yeast Rice, I've read, can be just as bad as a statin.

Documented, or hearsay? Links?

The ill effects of statins are WELL documented.

bacon :), figure if i stick enough lube in the arteries it'll keep em flowing nice and good.
but in all seriousness, the Rx stuff works pretty well as a rule. An uncle also had good luck with an herbal remedy (dunno which to be honest). Ask around (like this) and g'luck.
