I would like to get into it...i wanted some advice on it. I know many people go into the other classics greek and latin, but you dont really here much about sanskrit

Its gonna be real hard if you dont know hindi. The grammatical rules are almost like programming syntax. Sandhi will be more difficult.
My suggestion is to pick a sanskrit text-book used by Indian schools.

sanskrit is very well and alive in all teh indo european languages...k champ?

Sanskrit is not dead. It is not spoken now but it is used in all hindu rituals. There are many who understand a sanskrit sloka if it is recited to them.

btw, wasnt knocking you wanting to study it. its just so rare a time i get to quote one of my favorite p.c.u. scenes.
