Anyone here still using Windows 98?

I'm still running Win98 at work. And I like it because they can't realistically lock me out of more than I can unlock 🙂

The system is running good, and aside from the weekly running out of GDI from a three pronged attack of the hogs does everything I want it to do.

My Mp3 player is still running Win95B.

We use it at work, but not on any computers connected to the internet. I'm trying to migrate us to 2000. A fw non-critical systems run 95 and one runs 3.11.

I still use 98se on my box. When I buy a new computer later this year I'll make the switch over to XP.

Still runs very stable and I don't seem to have the kind of troubles that other people describe and I run all kinds of software on it. Just reformatted and reinstalled it a couple of months ago to clean up all the garbage I've installed and uninstalled over the years. Really runs smooth again now without ever a crash or BSOD.

yeah im typing from my machine, a 98se/mandrake machine. i stopped using mandrake and i still use 98se. hopefully soon i will be making the switch to OS X/Jag/Panther

No sh|t.

Anybody that had problems with it was either running a personally fvcked up configuration or their hardware was for sh|t. I never bothered upgrading mine cause I never had, or have, any problems with it. My son's, which is running XP, locks up on occasion while playing WarCraft or Diablo II. Oh, and what's that other crap he gets... "This application has caused a fault, would you like to send a report...". XP... BFD!

I also run 98SE, installed in early 2000. Not bad considering how much I use this and the multiple video cards and the like I have gone through! XP is to much money I have other things to worry about.

I have to use Windows 98 at work because the digitizing software for custom embroidery designs (for shirts, hats, etc.) only works with Windows 98.

Still use 98se. Works fine with lots of ram. Might make the jump to LongHorn SE when it comes out..mabe 2 years or so?? The new file format looks interesting...

Just setting up a VideoCapture box, using an old ATI AIW Pro card (PCI) and tried WinME first but had nothing but problems. (I expected as much, ME is always a PITA to get stable, but, thought I'd try it since I was doing a nice fresh install).

This morning I wiped it out and am almost finished getting 98SE setup to my liking. Just downloading a few updates to some outdated drivers I had...

98SE > ME fer sure.

i have one machine that dual boots to XP & 98se. I have kept 98se for only 2 different things. every now and then i'll need to make a floppy with 95/98 system files (like for making a bios upgrade disk or an msdos version of ghost).

the second is just to test webdev on IE5.

i have the system setup with just a small 2gig partition and rarely have to boot into it. but when i do it is a nice tool.
