Anyone here staying at a UCI dorm?

well... last year i was at middle earth/shadowfax, but this year i'm living off-campus at parkwest

(like that helps)

where are u staying at? i was at gondolin in middle earth freshman year. pretty cool experience.. it's lan party 24/7.

be careful with parkwest.. i know so many people with cars stolen or broken into. just don't leave valuable stuff in there.. and have fun finding parking if you have more cars than parking spots they give u. cool thing tho is the uci bus makes a stop there.
 
I'm in Mesa Court, the Aldea building.

It's suppose to be brand new, but I wish I was in Middle Earth. It's closer to the Engineering department if I recall correctly.
 
Mesa rooms are slightly bigger than middle earth rooms, but both places are pretty much different. i'm not sure how the new buildings are tho.

engineering and cs buildings are right outside of middle earth.. so it'll be a walk from mesa. but since it's your first year, you'll have lots of GE's then, yeah? writing/humanities is closer to mesa.. and some of my math classes were on that side too.

don't forget about the ARC.. if you haven't checked it out, it's very nice for a school gym. the fees are part of your tuition so you pay for it whether or not you go.
 
I've heard about it. Definately going to go there as I need to shape up anyways.. 🙁

How's their intramural sports program? I'm not good enough to play at the college levels.. :[
 
when do you start?


every other college i know of started by the beginning of the month. i've been in for 3 weeks now.
 
i don't know too much about the intramural's.. but they look good. they got lots of info on the walls at the ARC.

UCI's starting on the 27th.. quarter system. But this year they're starting a week later, and instead of a 4 week christmas break, it's 3 weeks now.
 
park west isn't as bad as everybody thinks it is.. i really like it a lot. a lot of families live here and i get my own room so it's much better than the triple that UCI stuck me in last year. my roommate last year/apartmentmate this year furnished the whole place (except my room of course) with really nice stuff- air hockey table, leather sofas, tv, etc. so i'm enjoying the experience.

now if only i could somehow enroll in just 1 more easy 4-unit class, everything would be set. any suggestions? (preferably take home midterm, take home final, and no attendance requirements 🙂)

-believe it or not, but philosophy 4 last year was just that. 3 essays and discussion attendance made your grade, and i never went to class and pulled off my A
