There's a song (warning, many of you will consider it annoying) that I think is in Danish. It's just the same two words followed by one of two words it seems, but I don't speak whatever he does and I'm curious.

Contrary to urban legend, NO ONE ALIVE actually speaks Danish, except in academia. It's a dead language, much like Welsh, Latin, and Attic Greek.

I can read about 11% of Danish, Norwegian, Swedish ... but thats only because about 10% of the words are the same in English. And the other 1% you can figure out from the context. But verbally understand, no I can not follow. I just know Velkommen (it means "f*** you) and gjetost (most delicious cheese ever)

Not sure if serious.

It means Welcome :)
It was such an obvious obviousness that I had to much about with it to ensure my response was not clean.

I just had to make sure. The amount of bs thrown around here as "fact", by some posters is amazing. I wasn't sure if someone had pulled a fast one on you.
I've known some foreign speakers who try to pass off rude speech as otherwise to unknowing people, never seen the opposite.

We have a resturaunt up here called Norse Nook. Their sign says velkommin til Norse Nook.

Are you mixing him up with that skinny freak from Hell on Wheels? I'm so confused.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_Chef

Swedes generally have a negative impression of the Swedish Chef stemming from the fact that, to Swedes, his gibberish speech sounds very little like Swedish. The sing-song quality of the character's mock language is suggestive of Norwegian, not Swedish.

So he claims to be Swedish, but he's just an imposter.

My grandmother has had some sort of a Velkommen door mat as well as wall art in the entry of her home throughout my entire life. My great grandparents on her side of the family immigrated from here around 1930 (grandma was born in 32) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kristiansund
